The increase in Consumer Price Index (CPI) for the year ending September 2021 was confirmed by HM Treasury as 3.1%.

Official confirmation from HM Treasury as to whether the 3.1% increase will apply to public service pension schemes (including the LGPS) is expected by March 2022, before the increase takes effect in April 2022.

This means the CARE pensions for contributory members will most likely increase by 3.1% on 1 April 2021. If you’ve been receiving a pension or you’ve had a deferred pension with EAPF for at least 12 months, these will also likely increase by 3.1% on 11 April 2022. If you haven’t been a deferred member or you haven’t received your pension for a full year before April 2022, you might receive a smaller increase.
