What to expect from our webinars
Each year, we tweak the content of our webinars to keep it up to date with any changes and ensure the information given feels current. But fundamentally, the rules that govern the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) and how your benefits are calculated haven’t changed since 2014. Therefore, often we don’t really change how we explain things in the topics we cover on the webinars.
We do, however, read and listen to our members feedback every year and we run them as best as we can in a way that suits most needs. It’s not always possible to please everyone when covering some subjects – as humans, we all learn differently and respond to different levels of detail. With some needing more, and some needing less of the detail! So, getting a balance that meets everyone’s needs can be tricky.
Starting with the controls, we turn off camera’s, turn off the chat and mute microphones. This ensures minimal distractions for the presenters and for the participants too.
We do however open up the chat and the microphones at the point we run the Q&A. Over the years, we’ve had many comments about just how useful the Q&A session is, and how hearing other people’s questions helps member’s think of questions they hadn’t even considered before. Due to this, we often run over the allocated hour. In response to the feedback we’ve had on this point over the last couple of years, we’ve extended the sessions to 1hr 30mins.
