Don’t let a scammer get their hands on your pension!
The pensions industry continues to see a rise in pension scams. Don’t fall victim to a scammer, who doesn’t deserve your hard-earned pension!
Scammers are now more sophisticated than ever before. They can be articulate and financially knowledgeable, as well as having impressive websites, making it really quite difficult to suspect anything untoward. The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) have published a leaflet pointing out things to look out for and advise on how to protect yourself from a scam.
These are the tactics they point out to look out for:
- Being contacted out of the blue
- Promise of high guaranteed returns
- Free pension reviews
- Access to your pension before age 55
- Pressure to act quickly.
If something seems too good to be true, then, unfortunately, it probably is. Click the links below to start learning more about pension scams.

On the topic of scams, we’ve also been made aware of phishing emails being sent linked to pensions. These emails are designed to look like official communications about your State Pension, pension forecast, or UK Visas and Immigration status.
A new type of phishing email being sent at the moment might ask you to review a document or open it through a portal. Unlike more common phishing emails, these don't include a clickable link. Instead, they show a web address in plain text that you have to copy and paste into your browser.
This allows the scammer to steal your credentials and immediately try to access your account.
